Senior Millwork Fabricator (CNC)
About Quarterhorse
Quarterhorse Solutions brings ideas into the physical world.
We partner with interior designers, architects, developers, and creative agencies to fabricate work that doesn’t come out of a catalogue. Feature walls, branded environments, displays, signage, integrated lighting, and one-off builds that require real thought to make work.
Our projects are defined by complexity, problem-solving, and the need for people who care deeply about how something gets built, not just that it gets built.

The Role
We’re seeking a senior CNC millwork technician who’s energized by unusual projects and enjoys exploring the best way to bring intricate ideas to life through CNC millwork.

This role spans fabrication, CNC output, shop execution, and installation. You’ll be involved early, helping turn loose concepts, sketches, and design intent into buildable solutions. Sometimes that means refining an approach. Sometimes it means testing materials, adjusting processes, or figuring out how to make something work that hasn’t been done quite that way before.

Our work includes custom builds such as feature walls, branded environments, displays, signage, integrated lighting elements, and specialty installations, often involving mixed materials and tight constraints. Experience working across a range of build types and materials is required.

This role sits at the intersection of planning and craftsmanship. You’ll produce accurate shop drawings and CNC files, fabricate and assemble work in the shop, and support installations in the field. You’ll work closely with Account Managers, Production, and other fabricators to explore options, pressure-test ideas, and land on solutions that are efficient, buildable, and well executed.

Mentorship and collaboration are important here, not in a formal or hierarchical sense, but through sharing knowledge, comparing approaches, and continuously refining how work gets done. This is a role for someone who enjoys learning, experimenting, and contributing to a strong technical culture in the shop.

Key Responsibilities:
-
Review client designs, sketches, and project requirements and determine practical build approaches
-
Develop and refine build strategies for both standard and unique project requirements
-
Produce clear, accurate shop drawings and CNC-ready files
-
Operate CNC equipment and support fabrication workflows
-
Fabricate and assemble project builds in the shop and on-site as required
-
Support and lead on-site installations as required
-
Provide material takeoffs and fabrication time estimates
-
Explore materials, processes, and build methods to solve unique project challenges
-
Order materials and support inventory planning for assigned projects
-
Manage your own workload and support other team members when needed
-
Collaborate across departments to deliver thoughtful, well-executed work

Required Experience & Skills
-
5+ years of experience in custom, specialty, and architectural millwork
-
Experience fabricating feature walls, displays, signage, integrated elements, or similar custom build work is an asset
-
Experience working with a range of materials, including wood, MDF, laminate, veneers, acrylics, alupanel, and mixed-material assemblies
-
Strong hands-on fabrication experience in a professional shop environment
-
CNC experience, including file preparation and machine operation
-
Proficient in Rhino, AutoCAD, and EnRoute, with experience using additional CNC, design, or fabrication software as an asset
-
Expert-level ability to create shop drawings that translate cleanly from screen to shop to site
-
Ability to produce 3D renderings and technical drawings to support concepts and build plans
-
Strong understanding of materials, joinery, finishes, and real-world fit and alignment
-
Installation experience and comfort working on commercial job sites
-
High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
-
Clear communicator who works well in a team setting
-
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
